The debut trailer from Netflix and Dreamwork's Voltron:Legendary Defender is finally here, and it certainly impresses.
The new Studio MIR animated series looks to have some top notch production values, along with a healthy dose of humor, and overall the cast seems quite likable. It will premiere on Netflix in June with an hour-long episode, followed by ten 22-minute episodes.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Executive Producer Lauren Montgomery described their goal for the show as wanting "to make it closer to what we remember the show being versus what it actually ends up being when you go back and watch it." They also crafted the characters as solid new entry points for unfamiliar fans, as Executive Producer Joaquim Dos Santos explains. "Our characters are as unfamiliar as a new viewer would be to Voltron," Dos Santos says. "They're living on a version of Earth in the distant future that hasn't made contact with alien life forms, but they're going to the equivalent of space camp."
Voltron Legendary Defender hits Netflix on June 10th.
