Peter Mayhew, Who Plays Chewbacca In Star Wars, Hospitalized With Pneumonia

Peter Mayhew, who plays Chewbacca in the Star Wars movies, has been hospitalized for pneumonia, according to a report on TMZ. At 70 years old, Mayhew is still very active in the Star Wars fan community, appearing at a number of conventions every year.

Over the weekend, Mayhew had to cancel an appearance at a comic book shop, because of illness. The good news is that Peter's wife shared on Reddit that Mayhew is expected to make a full recovery and be discharged within a few days.

Mayhew just recently completed filming for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is set to be released in movie theaters on December 18, 2015.
