ThePokemon Company announced today it was opening a new retail store in the Tokyo Skytree, Japan's largest building and the second largest building in the world. Millions visit the Skytree annually, as the tower is one of Tokyo's more popular tourist attractions. Opening this summer, the new Pokemon Center will be located in the Solamachi entertainment complex attached to the base of the tower. Like every other Pokemon Center in Japan, the Skytree Pokemon Center will have its own mascot, in this case the Legendary Dragon Rayquaza. In addition to special merchandise featuring Rayquaza, the store will also have a large statue of Pikachu riding Rayquaza to greet visitors at the entrance.
There are currently ten Pokemon Centers throughout Japan, selling plenty of Pokemon-themed merchandise, games and toys. This will be Tokyo's second Pokemon Center, joining the "Mega Tokyo" Pokemon Center across town.
