The world's second largest structure is getting its very own Pokemon Center. ThePokemon Company announced today it was opening a new retail store in the Tokyo Skytree, Japan's largest building and the second largest building in the world. Millions visit the Skytree annually, as the tower is one of Tokyo's more popular tourist attractions. Completed in 2012, the Skytree replaced the more iconic Tokyo Tower as the primary broadcasting tower for the Kanto region, the area around Toyko upon which the original Pokemon Red and Blue were originally based.

Opening this summer, the new Pokemon Center will be located in the Solamachi entertainment complex attached to the base of the tower. Like every other Pokemon Center in Japan, the Skytree Pokemon Center will have its own mascot, in this case the Legendary Dragon Rayquaza. In addition to special merchandise featuring Rayquaza, the store will also have a large statue of Pikachu riding Rayquaza to greet visitors at the entrance.

There are currently ten Pokemon Centers throughout Japan, selling plenty of Pokemon-themed merchandise, games and toys. This will be Tokyo's second Pokemon Center, joining the "Mega Tokyo" Pokemon Center across town.

The Skytree Pokemon Center will open July 6, so buy your plane ticket today!
