Following the viral Power Rangers fan film, producer Adi Shankar is at it again and this time, has 007 in his sights. Today, Shankar has released the animated James Bond: In Service of Nothing to his YouTube channel.

This isn't your typical animated short however, as the Dredd producer decided to release this as a pre-visualization motion storyboard. Following an older Bond, the story pits the protagonist against the struggles of modern culture, "where service to one's nation is an antiquated concept." Fans will also recognize that the 00 Agent depicted is modeled off the likeness of former Bond, Sean Connery.

Shankar, is clearly a Bond fan, mentioning, "I always wondered what would happen to James Bond in his old age and in our borderless world. I'm not referring to the Bond we've seen in recent films, that incarnation is closer to Jason Bourne meets Batman. I'm referring to the swanky, alcoholic, serial killer, with mommy issues that we saw in films like Dr. No and Goldfinger. How would he find a sense of purpose in a self absorbed and impersonal modern world once his license to kill has been revoked?"

James Bond: In Service of Nothing is Shankar's fifth fan film after producing other shorts like Dirty Laundry (featuring the Punisher), Truth In Journalism (featuring Venom), Judge Dredd: Superfiends and of course, Power/Rangers.

When asked by Deadline if he's worried about Eon coming after him for the film like Saban did, Shankar replied "There is a changing of the guard, and we need to stop pretending that the people in the digital filmmaking are not credible because the audience is gravitating away from us and to them. You must be fearless, but the vast majority of decisions in this industry are fear-based. The fact is that more people saw Jerry Purpdrank and Britney Furlan on Vine this weekend than saw Will Smith in Focus. It's not a knock on Will Smith, it's a commentary on what's happening in entertainment."
