Production Has Begun on Crackle's Dead Rising: Endgame

Crackle is going back in for another run with the Dead Rising franchise. The newest entry, Endgame, follows series protagonists Chase Carter (Jesse Metcalfe) and Jordan Blair (Keegan Connor Tracy) as they discover and attempt to stop a secret government program that will kill millions of innocent people.

Sure it will probably stop the zombies as well, but it is taking that whole "have to break a few eggs thing" a bit far.

The newest entry will also bring in some new faces, including Billy Zane (as Rand), Marie Avgeropoulos (as Sandra Lowe), and Victor Webster (Chuck Greene). That last name should be familiar to franchise fans, as he was the star of the quite popular Dead Rising 2 (my personal favorite in the series).

The previous film, Dead Rising Watchtower, did quite well for Crackle, as stated by GM Eric Berger.

Eric Berger, GM of Crackle and EVP, Sony Pictures Television Digital Networks said: "With last year's success of DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER, there was no question that Crackle viewers had an insatiable appetite for this popular and entertaining franchise—we can't wait to deliver another great feature for this 'rabid' and loyal audience."

As much as I hear about Zombie overload, it doesn't seem to affect audiences hunger for more from the genre. Dead Rising always carried with it a healthy dose of self referential humor, and Endgame looks to continue that pattern.

Dead Rising Endgame will release this summer.
