The first interntaional trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter has been released. The trailer is only just under a minute in length, but it's possible the U.S. version of the trailer, which will be released later today, will be longer.

The upcoming film will stand as the final Resident Evil installment according to director Paul W.S. Anderson. While an eventual franchise reboot is already in the works, fans of the current films were excited to hear the sixth movie was well underway. And, of course, Jovovich fans will remember the action star teased the film's first trailer several days ago on Twitter.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will be a direct sequel to 2012's Resident Evil: Retribution. The film will see Milla Jovovich return as Alice, and other talent such as Ali Larter, Shawn Roberts, William Levy, Iain Glen, and Ruby Rose have signed onto the project as well. Slated for release next year, fans can expect to see the film in 3D on January 27th 2017.

Understandably, you might be a bit confused as to where Resident Evil is in its storyline. After all, there have been five films leading up to this finale, but don't fear! An official synopsis for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter has been released and it can be read below:

"Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity's final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began - Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse. In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between regaining her superhuman abilities at Wesker's hand and Umbrella's impending attack, this will be Alice's most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion."
