Rey's Identity Possibly Revealed In Star Wars: The Force Awakens Disney Infinity Game

Warning: Actual spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as well as probable spoilers for Star Wars Episode VIII, follow.

UPDATE: It looks like Angry Joe, the original person who spotted the tidbit of information did a bit more of playthrough and in fact, Kylo Ren says "Face Me" and then "Curses" after getting hit.

Who is Rey, the main character of Star Wars: The Force Awakens? If you watched a half-hour-long videogame playthrough, it's likely you're pretty sure you know.

A bit of gameplay from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Disney Infinity game has exploded on social media tonight after Kylo Ren seemingly reveals the true nature of the mysterious young woman on board the Millennium Falcon.

While it's possible enough that Disney Infinity are operating off an educated guess or that something got garbled in translation, it seems unlikely. A big part of the game's appeal was that they had broad access to a variety of material to help make the characters in the world of Disney Infinity fit as seamlessly into their source material as possible.

At around 20:30 in the footage embedded above, Kylo Ren seems to shout at Rey to "Face me, cousin!"

That's likely to come as a surprise to Rey -- and the audience -- since no familial relationship between the two has been established onscreen.

It's been generally expected that Episode VIII would reveal Rey as the daughter of Luke Skywalker, who is indeed Kylo Ren's uncle (Ren, in The Force Awakens, is revealed to have been the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, Luke's sister). This seems to confirm that theory. It was all-but-confirmed in The Force Awakens, with a lot of context clues and even a line of dialogue that the lightsaber owned by Luke Skywalker "and his father before him" was "calling out" to Rey.

It's unlikely Disney will have any official comment on the gaffe, but we'll update the story if they do.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan & Abrams, features a cast including actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. They will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit theaters December 18, 2015, kicking off a new trilogy of Saga films as Episodes VIII and IX are already scheduled. The film garnered a record $247 million at the domestic box office and $529 million globally in its opening weekend.
