During his Reddit AMA interview today, Iron Man and Marvel's The Avengers star Robert Downey, Jr. told fans that he hadn't ruled out the possibility of appearing on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as difficult as it might be to actually accomplish.

"Nothing is impossible. But there might be a fair amount of red tape involved in something like that," Downey admitted. "I love Clark Gregg, and am pleased the show is doing so well."

Of course, between the cost of Downey himself and the technical aspect of his powers, Iron Man is actually one of the characters the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. showrunners have frequently used as an example of why you shouldn't expect an Avenger to show up on the series with any kind of regularity.

He did turn to the "nothing is impossible" answer again when asked about a much more unexpected role: Doctor Who. Asked whether he would ever take a starring role on that series if it were offered, Downey responded, "It's funny you'd bring that up. A writer asked me to watch a particular episode about a month ago, in hopes of helping us break story on a project. An incredible series. Anything's possible."

Lest fans think that he's just playing the "nothing is impossible, except what is" game that so many actors in his position play, a later question asked him point blank what current, ongoing TV series he would be willing to make a cameo or guest appearance on.

His answer? "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
