Did Robert Kirkman just drop a massive spoiler for The Walking Dead?

Before you go any further, we must warn you, we're about to dive pretty deep here, in regards to both The Walking Dead comic book, and television series. This is your chance to turn back.

We warned you.

Kirkman, the series creator and television executive producer certainly toyed with fans' emotions during a recent episode of Comedy Central's @midnight, a late-night comedy show hosted by Chris Hardwick. In the episode, Hardwick asks Kirkman and series stars Lauren Cohan (Maggie) and Josh McDermitt (Eugene) to reveal as many "fake spoilers" for the Walking Dead's upcoming episodes as they want.

Cohan and McDermitt gave funny "spoilers," but it was Kirkman who dropped the biggest bombshell. "Eventually a character named Negan is introduced and he's going to bash in Glenn's brains with a baseball bat called Lucille," Kirkman said.

It could be a joke, given the context, but is it? In the Walking Dead comic, Glenn dies in just that manner when the warlord known as Negan crushes his head with a barb-wired baseball bat. However, it's worth nothing that mere moments before, Kirkman also exclaimed that his co-guest stars were also going to bite it in next week's episode, saying "Maggie and Eugene both die in next week's episode!" and joking that the gang would find a still-active Chili's restaurant.

So, did Kirkman slip in a real spoiler amongst all the false ones? It's difficult to say right now, but Negan's character hasn't been publicly cast yet. If he were to appear on the current season of The Walking Dead, it would be quite the surprise. Then again, we have had our suspicions, based on last week's midseason premiere, that Negan could jump into the picture sooner than fans are expecting.
