Spider-Man Balloon Could Be Grounded At Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Spider-Man might be a high-flying superhero, but he could get grounded at this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. At 29.1-feet tall, 78-feet long, and 37.8-feet wide, Spider-Man is one of the larger balloons in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which could present a problem if winds are too strong. It's predicted that winds could reach as high as 35 mph on Thanksgiving Day in New York City. According to NBC, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade organizers have indicated if sustained winds reach 23 mph with gusts of 34 mph, then around 16 of the larger balloons, which includes Spider-Man, may have to be grounded. It's apparently only the larger balloons that will be affected, as 36 smaller balloons would still likely be able to fly. The 2013 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is set to kick off on Thursday, November 28 at 9 AM on NBC.
