J.K. Simmons, who played Daily Bugle Managing Editor J. Jonah Jameson in the three Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man films, has spent the better part of the last year shilling for Farmers Insurance when he's not filming the final season of his hit TNT drama The Closer. It's admittedly a sad fate for the man who was, prior to Robert Downey, Jr., indisputably the best bit of casting in any comic book film since Christopher Reeve. This week, though, he gets to revisit the Marvel Universe, however obliquely. In addition to Dr. Pepper and Wyndham Hotels, The Avengers apparently has a promotional relationship with Farmers, and ol' JJJ himself is reprising his ongoing role as teacher at "Farmers University" for the spot, which sees a number of his students--well, it's best if you watch it for yourself. Bear in mind this isn't the first time he's done this; a similar commercial aired around the time of X-Men: First Class. Here's hoping he does one for The Amazing Spider-Man.
