All-New X-Men

writer Brian Michael Bendis confirmed for a fan on Twitter that there will be a sequel to his critically-acclaimed miniseries Spider-Men... ...but that's all he said. "Yes" was the entire answer to the question, meaning that the prolific Marvel writer probably knows the basic timeline and plot but not much else. Perhaps the hardest part is finding a motivation or a character dynamic that makes it worth going back to the well a second time. "There wasn't any emotional punch" to crossing over Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man before Peter Parker died in the Ultimate Comics universe, Bendis told ComicBook.com during a June interview. "But here you can see, even in the first issue, just a hint of the emotionality of Peter coming to visit a world where he has died being Spider-Man. Really getting to see the emotional impact that generates throughout the city and more importantly to his direct friends and family. And then get to see this kid living up to a legacy that he'd started, even though he wasn't aware that he was creating this legacy. So all of these things was the reason to do this crossover...." Perhaps the story is at the whims of current Superior Spider-Man writer Dan Slott, who has replaced Peter Parker with Dr. Octopus (in Peter's body) as Spider-Man, which would be a difficult plot twist to work around for a second team-up with Miles Morales. Perhaps it's not even a seed of an idea yet, outside of the fact that Bendis and Marvel are both interested. Perhaps it ties in with the return of Spider-Man 2099. (Or wouldn't it be chaotic to have all four versions in play in the same story?) And then there's the possibility of Peter and the Miles Morales of Earth-616 hooking up, given that cryptic final page of Spider-Men. In any event, Marvel isn't talking about it yet, having declined a comment when reached by CBR.
