Square Enix recently held a new Star Log, the second in their series of information reveals for their upcoming Star Ocean V: Integrity and Faithlessness.
This time around we got a much better look at the updated battle system, which shakes off the environmental restraints of past iterations and allows you flow seamlessly from combat to noncombat, never leaving the area you're in. Games like Dragon Age and The Witcher have made that the pseudo-standard and seeing Star Ocean follow suit is a much-welcomed step
The new 7 party system allows you to take control of any team member on the fly, and each one is sufficiently unique enough to warrant a turn or two. Combat looks fast and fluid, and graphically it's quite good in motion. I was also surprised to see advanced mechanics like juggling and countering being used throughout the battle.
I am a little worried about how smooth that camera is going to end up being, as it seemed to jerk back a forth a bit more than I'd like when the action got up close.
Make sure to view some updated screens in the gallery, and check out two new character trailers spotlighting Fiore and Victor above as well. Star Ocean V: Integrity And Faithlessness releases on June 28th.
