Star Wars Episode VII Post-Production to Be Completed in Los Angeles

While much of Star Wars Episode VII is expected to be shot on location and on massive soundstages in London, filmmaker J.J. Abrams--who prefers to shoot closer to home--has apparently convinced Disney to allow him to work on post-production for the film in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter. According to the report,

Abrams -- who has shot all of his films in Los Angeles (he even personally covered some of Star Trek Into Darkness' costs in order to keep production local) -- is converting a portion of his Bad Robot headquarters into production spaces built specifically for the Star Wars project. A green room, sound studios and other new facilities will be developed within the three-story, 18,000-square-foot Santa Monica building, which already includes editing bays, a workshop for making props, a screening room that can double as a set and Abrams' personal suite of offices.

Nobody involved had any comments, so this could be fact or rumor just as easily as the recent casting name-drops, but it stands to reason that Lucasfilm, who went out of their way to woo Abrams even after he initially said no to the film, would want to keep him happy so this news might become official sooner rather than later.
