This is the most surprising headline you'll read today, right? Yes, that was sarcasm, but this story shouldn't surprise anyone. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will take its second weekend, the holiday weekend for Christmas, with ease. Current distributor projections say the movie should earn another - and this number is crazy for a second weekend - $160-162 million.

For some perspective, that would be the seventh highest opening weekend of all time if it were an opener. Out of 50 weekends this year, Star Wars: The Force Awakens should earn more money in its second weekend than all movies did in all but 12 of those weekends.

So yes, grass is green, the Earth will rotate once every 24 hours, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens will dominate Christmas weekend box office, but by how much is the real story. It helps that in advance ticket sales, Christmas Day was the third highest day for advances, below only opening Friday and Thursday's preview night.

The other movies this weekend that should take home a bit of cash are comedy Daddy's Home and dramedy (though it's being nominated as a comedy) Joy, another David O. Russell, Jennifer Lawrence, and Bradley Cooper joint. Those two films are expected to make around $23 million and $14 million respectively at second and third place on the weekend.

For some reason, the new Chipmunks movie isn't on the big tracking list.
