Spain. Japan. UK. Germany. Australia. Sweden. Chile. And of course, the U.S.

Everywhere you look, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is setting records. The film is #1 in 44 foreign markets now, and in the three days of release, Wednesday-Friday, the global box office gross has already passed the $250 million mark. That's already a recoup of the $200 million production budget and then some, without even a single weekend day under its belt.

That's all without yet opening in China, which has become one of the top three, if not top two, markets in the world - it doesn't open there until January 9. It still has a long way to go to beat Jurassic World's global debut (which did have China) of $524.9 million, but with the domestic record well in hand, new industry estimates are shooting well above $300 million domestic - which should be plenty for a new worldwide record, too.

We'll keep watching the box office all weekend, and let you know when we can stop talking about Jurassic World, and start talking about Avatar and its crazy 2.788 billion dollar worldwide record.
