In a post from Lucasfilm thanking their fans for an incredible week, they managed to slip in some firm data about just how incredible it was. With the debut of Star Wars: The Force Awakens' first and final full trailer and the release of tickets sales online for opening weekend, the response was overwhelming - literally, for several movie theater and ticket sales websites. Advance ticket sales were the most ever in the first 24 hours in several countries, including the US, UK, and Norway.

The trailer, meanwhile, had 16 million people watching it on TV during ESPN's Monday Night Football, with another 112 million views online over the next twenty-four hours, adding up to their 128 million total.

Of course the post focused less on the numbers, instead working to thank fans for "discussion, reaction videos, memes" and more. "We saw and loved it all, and it meant the world to the creators of the film," they said.

There are 56 days until the December 18, 2015 release date (so 55 for those of you, like me, that bought tickets for the early showings the night before), but we doubt Lucasfilm and the Disney marketing machine will let up much on the promotion between now and then. And judging by the response this week, fans wouldn't have it any other way.
