Golly! You never know what kind of trouble ol' Dennis the Menace will get into next.

KSBW local news in Monterey, California, is reporting that a Dennis the Menace statue valued at about $25,000 and stolen from the California town in 2006 has reappeared in Florida.

The statue was nearly melted down, before someone recognized the character and did some research into why there would be a Dennis the Menace statue in the garbage at all.

The sculpture was installed at Monterey's Dennis the Menace Park in 1988, and it was stolen in 2006.

The statue will be returned to Monterey and replaced at the park, which will necessitate a new location for a replacement statue currently residing at Dennis the Menace Park.

The stolen statue was replaced in 2007. The original statue, a mold from which both the stolen statue and its replacement were produced, was provided by the family of Dennis the Menace creator Hank Ketchum.
