Supergirl's David Harewood: Hank Henshaw is a "Sadist," We'll See More Soon

During the show's Television Critics Association presentation this week, Supergirl star David Harewood said of Hank Henshaw that "He's a lot of fun to play. He's an absolute sadist (laughs) and I hope to see him again."

...Again?

Well, yes. According to series executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, we'll soon see the circumstances that brought together J'Onn J'Onzz, the Martian Manhunter with Hank Henshaw, the DEO director obsessed with killing the last (green) Martian.

"I think part of the Hank Henshaw that we see on our show - that J'Onn is inhabiting - is an affect," Kreisberg told reporters. "He is impersonating somebody, but I do think there is an aspect...the character of Hank Henshaw is supposed to be protecting the world from destruction and I think J'Onn, underneath that, takes that very seriously."

He went on to say that everyone on the show -- from Supergirl and Martian Manhunter to villains like Maxwell Lord and Astra -- thinks they're "on the side of the angels" and that they aim to make Earth safer.

Supergirl returns Monday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
