Tales from The Crypt

Fan-favorite franchise mascot The Cryptkeeper will head up the forthcoming reboot of Tales From the Crypt, M. Night Shyamalan has confirmed.

The series, based on the EC Comics series of the same name, was previously adapted to television from 1989-1996 on HBO.

Speaking at WonderCon this weekend, Shyamalan told the audience that "there will" be a Cryptkeeper in the new series. He also gave some clues as to what tone he's considering for the show.

"You know, I can't say 100% but I'm thinking right now, where I am, if you'd asked me this six months ago I would have a different answer, but where I am right now it's more individual Black Mirror kind of stuff right now," Shyamalan said.

The comic, TV series, and a 1972 feature film, all focused on one-and-done horror stories, although the tones of each varied wildly.
