Mike Wolfe American Pickers Batmobile

On tonight's episode of American Pickers on the History Channel, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz picked Batmobile designer George Barris. Mike and Frank both got to sit in the original Batmobile. The original Batmobile started out as a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car, before George Barris turned it into the Batmobile used in the live action TV series Batman, as well as the movie adaptation, starring Adam West. The original Batmobile sold earlier this year for $4.62 million. The selling price set a new world record as the highest price ever paid for a TV/Movie car. In addition to getting to sit in the Batmobile, Mike Wolfe also found some concept art related to the Batmobile in the back room. The concept art was for the touring Batmobile, which toured the United States back in 1966. Mike Wolfe was able to buy the Batmobile concept art for $1,000, because George Barris wanted to see a collectible back out in the public where a collector could enjoy it.
