The Expendables 3 Opening Night Box Office Is $875K

The Expendables 3 opened to $875,000 box office take in late night showing on Thursday.

The less than impressive numbers are possibly a result of a leak that made the entire, final cut of the film available on torrent sharing web sites weeks ahead of the film's theatrical release. The film has been downloaded over 5 million times in that period, and projections expect it to cost the film 12-15 per cent of it's worldwide box office gross.

By comparison, the original Expendables only did $870,000 in it's opening evening, and Expendables 2 only grossed $685,000 during it's opening. However, those previous films only had midnight showing, compared to The Expendables 3, which began showings at 7 p.m.

The Expendables 3 is projected to bring in about $22 million in it's opening weekend.
