'The Flash' Drops a Reference to Atlantis

The Flash debuted another new episode tonight, and it contained a casual reference to a big part of DC Comics lore.

Spoilers for tonight's episode of The Flash, "Luck Be A Lady", below!

Early on in the episode, fans saw the return of Harry Wells (Tom Cavanagh), who traveled from Earth-2 with a video message for Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale). The message was delivered in a "break-up cube", but it quickly began to short out as Wally played it. Harry lamented about the cube's technology, blaming the malfunction on "that darn Atlantean plastic."

DC superfans and novices alike will probably get that name-drop, as Atlantis is most notably home to Aquaman.

This is by no means the first time that The Flash has referenced Aquaman or Atlantis, but there will probably be more people aware of it, especially following Arrow's Batman name-drop last week.

The first Aquaman reference came in a deleted scene from The Flash's pilot, Barry ran through a list of unexplained cases he was investigating, including a "man who can talk to fish." The Earth-2 world Aquaman was then brought up by Hunter Zolomon/Zoom (Teddy Sears) early on in Season Two, while he was impersonating Jay Garrick. He mentioned that the city exists above water, and that one of his "best friends" is from there.

The city was referenced again a few more times in Season Two, appearing on a map in the episode "Gorilla Warfare", and being mentioned by Barry Allen's (Grant Gustin) Earth-2 parents in "Welcome to Earth-2".

All in all, this newest reference probably doesn't mean much for the world of The Flash, much like Arrow's aforementioned Batman reference. But still, it's sure to delight plenty of DC fans.
