During a roundtable interview with reporters at Comic Con International: San Diego last month, The Flash's John Wesley Shipp said that he feels the series will be a success, in large part becuase of the people who are making it.

He praised star Grant Gustin as well as Executive Producers Greg Berlanti, Geoff Johns and Andrew Kreisberg, saying that they make the experience of making the series a welcoming one and that he hopes fans see that come through on screen.

"I hope it works, and I hope so for [Gustin]," Shipp said. "Jesse Martin said it best; he said 'This show is going to work and it's going to work for one reason' -- and he pointed to Grant -- 'because that boy's head and his heart are in alignment and they're in the right place. It can't be expressed any better than that."

Asked whether the show will be accessible to fans with little or now knowledge of The Flash in the comics, Shipp said, "Yes. And the reason for that is Greg Berlanti, who as you know I've worked with on Dawson's Creek -- he was my head writer for a couple of seasons -- and of course Brothers and Sisters. Greg has a real sense of storytelling. Even Geoff [Johns]. Geoff is at DC Comics, but his sense of who these characters are and his love...the three guys, when I walked onto that set, it was like you just walked in and you felt the excitement and the love. Not necessarily the love for me, although Andrew Kreisberg said he was an intern on the backlot at WB. He said, 'I totally invaded your space, man. I fanboyed out.'"

Shipp held up his hands, fingers crossed, and joked, "I said, 'Was I nice?' He said, 'You were great.' And he's my boss now. There's the lesson: you never know when the assistant you're talking to today is going to be your boss tomorrow."

The Flash debuts on The CW October 7.
