Cartoon Network is bringing back Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup for another go.

The network announced that the fan-favorite Powerpuff Girls series is returning for a second season. The first season rated well for Cartoon Network, but more importantly the series made a big impression on viewers through its social media campaigns and awards.

The show's premiere was viewed by 81 million fans across all available platforms, and the first season was even nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Short Form Animated Program category. Outside of the show itself, the "Powerpuff Yourself" avatar creator was a massive hit, engaging over 12 million fans, and responsible for a mass changing in Facebook and Twitter profile pictures.

"The Powerpuff Girls is on a momentous run with its first Emmy nod, a debut appearance at one of the biggest fan events of the year, and now a second season greenlight," said Rob Sorcher, chief content officer for Cartoon Network. "Congratulations to the Cartoon Network creative teams who have super-powered this property with the perfect amount of Chemical X to bring a hit show for a new generation of fans."

As Sorcher mentioned, the superpowered trio will be making their San Diego Comic-Con debuts at the convention with a full panel and a booth on the show floor. Fans will also be able to print their avatar on a T-Shirt or tote bag at the booth, which of course will be inspired by the Powerpuff Girl's hometown Townsville.
