Last weekend, Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke stated that certain Pokemon in Pokemon Go were only available in certain areas, a seeming confirmation that there were "region-locked" Pokemon in the game. Most online chatter surrounding Pokemon Go suggests that Tauros, Mr Mime, Farfetch'd, and Kangaskhan are each exclusive to one continent, which implies that you would need to either find a trading partner or do some traveling to complete your Pokedex.

However, while those region-locked Pokemon can't be caught in the wild, that doesn't mean they're totally unavailable on the other three continents. All four region-locked Pokemon can be obtained by hatching 5 KM eggs. Since 43 Pokemon can be hatched via 5 KM eggs, that means there's about a 2.3% chance in getting one of three Pokemon with every 5 KM egg you hatch. A 1 in 43 chance isn't exactly great odds, but it's better than plunking down cash for flying to three other continents just to catch a few Pokemon.

This isn't "new" information; in fact, we pointed this out in our original article about region-locked Pokemon. However, since people are starting to show off their "complete" Pokedex with only 142 Pokemon, it makes sense to remind people that you haven't actually caught them all until you've gotten Mr. Mime, Farfetch'd, Kangaskhan, and Tauros too.
