During Pokemon's early years, Nintendo released Pokemon Stadium, a Nintendo 64 game that allowed players to bring their Pokemon into the world of 3D animation. Nintendo steadfastly released additional console games until 2010's Pokemon: Battle Revolution, when the games were discontinued in part due to Pokemon X and Pokemon Y's revolutionary redesign of the main franchise games.

For fans looking to experience playing Pokemon on their console, a new Halo 5: Guardians map might just do the trick. Created by "Captaindirewolf", the Guardians map lets two players pick from one of three Pokemon (a Venusaur, a Blastoise and a Charizard) who then "battle" in a watery stadium. The map also features cameos by Pikachu, Gyrados, Diglett and other Pokemon, albeit in non-battle roles. The winner is determined by type advantage (Venusaur beats Blastoise, Blastoise beats Charizard, Charizard beats Venusaur) and the winning "trainer" gets a sniper rifle to kill their defeated opponent.

While it's no Pokemon Stadium, this looks like a pretty goofy and fun distraction for gamers who enjoy both Halo and Pokemon. Check out the video below for more details about the Halo 5 map.
