According to Variety, Universal Pictures is in talks with Annabelle Wallis for the female lead in their latest reboot of The Mummy.

If negotiations go well, Wallis will be playing an archaeologist in the film and will join a cast that features Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella—who is playing the iconic monster.

"The storyline is set in the modern day with Cruise's character to be a special forces soldier (or former soldier)," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Wallis is best known for her roles in Peaky Blinders, Annabelle and the upcoming comedy Brothers Grimsby.

Alex Kurtzman is on board to direct and Jon Spaihts is writing the script.

The Mummy will lumber into theaters June 9, 2017.
