The new science fiction film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, based off the Valerian and Laureline graphic novel series, will be heading to Comic-Con in San Diego this summer with a panel on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in Hall H. That's one year to the day before the movie hits theaters, and they're bringing some of the A-list cast with them.

Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, The Professional), the director of the film is coming out, along with actors Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, producer Virginie Besson-Silla, and "potential special guests." Other stars who could fill that role that are not confirmed for any appearance include Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, and John Goodman.

"Special operatives Valerian & Laureline embark on a mission to the breathtaking intergalactic city of Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis comprised of thousands of different species from all four corners of the universe. Alpha's 17 million inhabitants have converged over time - uniting their talents, technology and resources for the betterment of all. But not everyone on Alpha shares in these same objectives - unseen forces are at work, placing our race in great danger," reads the included official description. It continues:

Alpha's seventeen million inhabitants have converged over time- uniting their talents, technology and resources for the betterment of all. Unfortunately, not everyone on Alpha shares in these same objectives; in fact, unseen forces are at work, placing our race in great danger."
