Big spoilers for those who haven't finished the second season of Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix.

Ready?

Are you sure?

Okay.

If you've gotten far enough in Daredevil, you know that Frank Castle gets incarcerated for all the murder he did as the Punisher. Here's the twist though: Wilson Fisk manipulates Castle into killing a rival while in jail. Even without his suits or behind his corporation, Fisk is still a man in control of things, pulling the strings on the inside.

Vincent D'Onofrio talked exclusively with EW about the reveal and what it's like getting back in the head of the Kingpin, Wilson Fisk and if he knew when he'd be back.

"Well, it was always the plan to use me," he said. "I knew that I was going to come back in some form, but I didn't know what we were going to do until [producer] Jeph Loeb told me. I loved the idea of keeping it quiet and not letting the fans know. It's more fun for everybody. Once I realized what was happening story-wise, it was just exciting to revisit the role."

Getting back into the headspace of such a famous comic villain, D'Onofrio mentioned it wasn't the easiest, but still one of his favorite roles. "Yeah. Well, it was like putting on a pair of shoes, but they're not that comfortable. [Laughs] They're a little painful at times, you know? But for some reason, they're still one of your favorites, so you wear them.

So fans, were you surprised with the return or had a hunch he'd be back?

Daredevil season two is currently streaming on Netflix.
