Expect Comicbook.com to be a little heavy on The Walking Dead news today. We spent the weekend at Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta, Georgia. Comicbook.com was one of the media sponsors for this inaugural zombie event, which was started and run by a pair of Walking Dead fans.
Walker Stalker Con is the brainchild of Eric Nordhoff and James Frazier, who are the hosts and owners of a popular Walking Dead podcast known as “Walker Stalkers.” While final attendance numbers haven’t been released yet, the convention was expected to bring in around 10,000 fans.
While many of the Walking Dead cast appear at pop culture events throughout the country, the Walker Stalker Con was unique in just how many former and current cast members attended. The convention was a reunion of sorts between those who were still on the show and those who were now off the show.
While Andrew Lincoln has rarely done conventions in the past, he wowed the crowd with a lively and entertaining panel on Saturday. We got the opportunity to meet Lincoln during the convention, and can attest that he’s the likable, fun guy that fans saw in the panel both on and off stage. Lincoln cited wanting to do something for that Georgia community, where the show is filmed, as his reason for doing the convention.
While autographs and photo ops are the core of most conventions, Walker Stalker Con also offered up several additional events, including cast member panels, an Emily Kinney concert, a zombie bash, and even an after show podcast on Sunday night.
Check out our exclusive photos from the convention, above and below. Some of these shots that were taken right before a group photo opportunity show what a great time the cast was having together. When you hear the Walking Dead cast talk about how much they enjoy working together in interviews, they aren’t kidding. It really is like one big Walking Dead family among the cast and crew.
