There's a lot of connecting the dots here, but fans online seem to think they've figured out when we'll see Stephen Amell appear onscreen with the trademark goatee worn by Green Arrow and Oliver Queen in the comics.
It looks like it will be on an episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
In a universe where anything can happen, Amell has said in the past that there was no chance whatsoever that he'd ever sport the goatee:
100% no. Never. Our show could go 14 seasons and a goatee will never appear. Hope that clears things up. Forever. https://t.co/pudAfBIhsD— Stephen Amell (@amellywood) July 29, 2015
...but of course, you shouldn't ever say never, as he tweeted three months later (today)...
1. Went on a tongue in cheek tirade earlier this year about Green Arrow iconography / how it fit into our show.— Stephen Amell (@amellywood) November 17, 2015
2. Proud to say it only took 3-ish months to make myself look like a total idiot.— Stephen Amell (@amellywood) November 17, 2015
3. The point being... You want to avoid the term "that will NEVER happen" under any and all circumstances.— Stephen Amell (@amellywood) November 17, 2015
...in the same week that Caity Lotz tweeted about time travel and a guest star on Legends.
Could it be that when the Legends head to the future, they meet a version of Oliver Queen who wears his facial hair that way?
It doesn't seem entirely implausible. Amell had also said that he couldn't take a photo today without dropping an "insane spoiler" about his "coolest day ever as Oliver Queen." Could that spoiler be the appearance of Oliver in the future, and/or that his character is alive? Or that he's only got one hand? That's a popular DC Comics trope for Oliver Queen when dark futures roll around...!
Of course, there's always me, sitting there and hoping for a replay of the moment when Oliver Queen met Travis Morgan and the two blonde, goatee-sporting DC heroes came to blows because people kept mistaking them for one another.0comments
Yes, that happened.
Arrow airs on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. DC's Legends of Tomorrow is expected to debut in January.
