An old face is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in next year's Captain America: Civil War--General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, who hasn't appeared in a Marvel Studios film since 2008's The Incredible Hulk.

The man behind the mustache, actor William Hurt, recently chatted about his return to the Marvel Universe, explaining how his second turn as the military man is far different from the first one.

"It's very different from the Hulk. The style is completely modernized," he told The Wall Street Journal. "So I'm not playing the graphic novel version of Thaddeus Ross."

Interesting. We wonder how Hurt's take on the General will differ from the various Marvel Comics interpretations. And speaking of "graphic novel versions," could a certain red-faced one ever grace the cinematic Ross?

When asked about The Red Hulk—Ross' gamma-powered alter ego in the comics since 2008—Hurt said he was unsure if he'd ever see red.

"I don't know. I wouldn't mind feeling like I had that much power," he admitted. But I created Thaddeus' ego with the same size as the monster's. With the same degree of messed op-ness. I'd take a shot at it."

Since Avengers: Age of Ultron took Bruce Banner off of the grid, Civil War would be the perfect time for a different shade of Hulk. But what do you think? Do you want to see Hurt Hulk out in Civil War or another Marvel movie? Let us know in the comments.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 5, 2016. And want to see where else Thudnerbolt Ross could show up? Then check out ComicBook.com's official Comic Book Movie Release Schedule here!
