Following the tragic passing of Leonard Nimoy, those who worked with and admired the Star Trek actor have posted emotional responses on their social media accounts.

William Shatner, who co-starred with Nimoy on the original Star Trek television series and films as Captain Kirk, left a heartfelt message for his friend on Twitter, writing, "I loved him like a brother. We will all miss his humor, his talent, and his capacity to love."

George Takei who also co-starred with Nimoy as Hikaru Sulu on the original Star Trek series, said goodbye to his fellow actor and friend on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Zachary Quinto, who plays this era's Mr. Spock in the rebooted Star Trek film series, shared his feelings on his predecessor's passing on Instagram. Quinto and Nimoy worked briefly together on J.J. Abrams' Star Trek and sequel, Star Trek: Into Darkness, where the two developed a friendship.

Many of Nimoy's celebrity fans, including writer Neil Gaiman, actor Nathan Fillion, and Star Trek alumnus Wil Wheaton, expressed their sorrows as well. You can view them below.

Nimoy, who passed away earlier today, had fought a long battle against chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was hospitalized late last week following severe chest pains, and passed from COPD-related complications. He was 83 years-old.
