Fox's X-Men: Days of Future Past generated $36 million in ticket sales yesterday in its first full day in U.S. theaters, setting the film up for a four-day holiday weekend of $110 million and a three-day total of around $92 to $95 million according to the studio. That means the movie could turn out to be the biggest opening weekend yet this year, or could come in as low as third behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Godzilla, both of which made around $93 million. The movie went into the weekend expected to generate around $100 million for the four-day weekend, but outside estimates have it as high as $120 million. It will be the biggest opening weekend of director Bryan Singer's career and the second-biggest in X-Men franchise history (behind X-Men: The Last Stand) if those numbers hold.
