It was less than a week ago that Matthew Vaughn revealed that he would not be directing X-Men Days of Future Past as had been expected. The revelation was very disappointing to many fans, because Vaughn had delivered possible the best X-Men movie ever with X-Men: First Class.
At the time, there was speculation that original X-Men director Bryan Singer would be stepping in to take his place, and Deadline had just confirmed that speculation. According to Deadline, Bryan Singer has now closed a deal with 20th Century Fox to return to the X-Men franchise to direct X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
Even though Vaughn will not be directing, word is that he will be producing along with writer Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner. A script is reportedly already complete for X-Men: Days of Future Past. Most of the X-Men First Class cast is confirmed to return, and there are rumors that the cast from Singer’s X-Men run will also be returning. X-Men Days of Future Past is set to be released on July 18, 2014.
