In a new interview with Fandango, X-Men: Days of Future Past actor Adan Canto was pressed for details about the upcoming sequel, while at a press event for his upcoming ABC comedy, Mixology.  About his role as Bobby da Costa/Sunspot in director Bryan Singer's massive mutant melee, Canto was thoughtful. "It wasn't entirely a new world because I had followed the previous movies, but I did jump into the comic books world a bit to understand: Who is this guy? What's his life like?," said the actor. "I just find I work better that way when I understand what's in his mind, where he's coming from. I pretty much took most of the things I read and I brought them to the table. He's a fiery guy. There's a lot of passion with Sunspot – a lot of experiences that brought him to want to explode all the time, but he's a positive guy. There was just a lot of material – very helpful!" Immersion in the comic books has not always been a favored means of preparation for actors who often see the media as too different to hold much value for them, but as Fox, Marvel, Warner Bros. and Sony all build elaborate, interconnected superhero universes that require multi-picture deals for actors and could potentially help shape a career (just ask Hugh Jackman), it seems inevitable that more performers will start to go the Henry Cavill route and read up on the character's print history to help shape not only their perceptions of the characters and their motivations, but build expectations for potential future installments, as well.
