Zack Snyder Wants To Expand 300 Past Ancient Greece

Just because 300 was based (loosely) on historical events, and just becuase the franchise is tied so closely to a certain aesthetic and era, doesn't mean it's game-over for the R-rated comic book franchise if Warner Bros. decides Ancient Greece is no longer a place they want to visit.

That's according to Zack Snyder, who directed 300 and served as executive producer on 300: Rise of an Empire.

We've been talking about is there a way, possibly, we move out of Ancient Greece and use it as a framing device for other conflicts that happened throughout history," Snyder told Collider in a new interview. "I think I mentioned that we talked about the Revolutionary War version, and we talked about the Alamo, and we've talked about there's a battle in China, a 'Lost Legion' kind of concept, any of those kinds of things are on the table."

The first 300 was a huge sleeper hit, becoming for a long time the highest-grossing R-rated comic book adaptation ever made until it was recently unseated by Deadpool. The second failed to earn its money back in the U.S., but made over $300 million overseas against a $110 million budget.
