The boxing legend Muhammad Ali is currently on life support at a Scottsdale, Arizona hospital, after facing respiratory problems complicated by Ali's Parkinsons.

Ali was taken there on Thursday, but his health started to decline very quickly (via the New York Post). According to the Associated Press, a spokesman for the former heavyweight champion said there was no update on his condition as of Friday.

Another source has said: ""He needs every bit of fight he's got left to survive. Doctors are telling the family that it likely won't be long until he passes away." Reportedly Ali's closest family and friends are on their way to be by his side (via The Daily Mirror), as another source told them: "His children are all extremely concerned and dropped everything to be with him. They fear the worst."

It's been over 30 years since Ali was first diagnosed with Parkinson's and even battling the affliction, Ali kept making appearances at special events. According to the AP, the cause of Ali's Parkinsons might be the result of the thousands of punches he took as a heavyweight boxer.

While he's been hospitalized a few different times in recent years, this is the only time he's needed help breathing, at least that we know of.

The hashtag #MuhammadAli includes a myriad of tweets of support for Ali and we'll be keeping an eye on this story as it develops. Our best wishes go out to Ali and his family.
