July 9 will mark the last day Lin-Manuel Miranda will perform for the highly-acclaimed show Hamilton. The contract for the star and creator of the show expires as do most of the contracts for the main cast.

In New York's Washington Heights enclave, during a breakfast event Thursday at Coogan's, the Tony winner confirmed to reporters the news of his looming departure. Starting July 11, Miranda communicated that his understudy Javier Munoz will take over the lead role according to USA Today.

When asked about what other cast members may remain with the production, Miranda stated, "I don't know who's staying and who's going. I wouldn't begrudge anyone who moved on and I wouldn't begrudge anyone who chose to stay."

After his exit, Miranda will be moving on to other upcoming projects. He is already "working on his accent" for his role in Mary Poppins Returns, a project due in Christmas 2018 featuring Miranda along side co-star Emily Blunt. Also, Miranda will be continuing his work on the music for Disney animated film, Moana, coming to theaters on November 23.

Although Miranda will be taking his exit from Hamilton on July 9, he will be doing two more performances to be filmed with the original cast in addition to shooting cameos offstage. He also mentioned that he could see himself stepping back into the role again some time in the future saying, "I think this is a role I'm going to be going back to again and again. I plan to revisit this role a lot."

So while Miranda may be moving on to other projects in the near future, those who haven't seen Miranda in the award winning production yet may have another chance in the future.
