Brock Lesnar's return to the UFC octagon is now less than a week away, and the only thing more shocking than his return is how abruptly it all happened. Lesnar will face off with Mark Hunt on July 9 after little over a month of preparation for the fight.

In early June, Lesnar announced he would be returning to the octagon for UFC 200 for the organization's marquee International Fight Week show. He had been in discussions for UFC 205, but then decided to take on UFC 200 because apparently the money was right, according to Uproxx.

On a conference call for UFC 200, the WWE superstar and former UFC heavyweight champ was very clear about his reason for returning to fighting. He didn't give any poetic speech about returning to make one last attempt to be heavyweight champion of the world or anything of the sort. Lesnar simply stated, "Hell, I'll fight whenever the money's right, and we took it to the 11th hour, and that's where we're at. It was short notice for me and for him, so we'll see what happens on the 9th."

38-year-old Lesnar has never taken a fight on such short notice, but luckily opponent Mark Hunt was game to face Lesnar as Hunt has taken many fights without requiring notice far in advance. Lesnar also stated, "I wasn't even sure if it was going to happen, but I've been training four or five weeks, and before my call to (UFC President) Dana (White), I wasn't even sure this thing was going to happen."

Luckily for fans of the UFC, White and Lesnar were able to reach an agreement.

After five years without fighting and being retired from the UFC, do you think we will see the formidable Brock Lesnar of old or will Mark Hunt make him wish he hadn't come out of retirement?
