It's been nearly a decade since the last Harry Potter book was published, but the series continues to thrive as new readers continue to stumble upon the magical series. Aided by its films' popularity, Harry Potter stands as one of the biggest franchises in the world - it looks like it's about to get even bigger. Barnes & Nobles announced today that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is now their most pre-ordered book since the 2007 release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Chief Merchandising Officer Mary Amicucci said, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is Barnes & Noble's most pre-ordered book since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and we expect it to be our biggest selling book of the year." The press release went on to emphasize Barnes & Nobles' exclusive promise to deliver all online and ship-to-home pre-orders by August 1st if ordered before July 29th. Mary also reminded Harry Potter fanatics that the book retailer would be hosting their "signature Midnight Magic" gatherings for fans to attend prior to the novel's midnight release.

For those unfamiliar with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, here's the deal: The story will stand as the eighth Harry Potter book and was created for the series' first on-stage production. The titular play recently debuted in London's West End to stellar reviews, so fans will now be able to experience the production since its script will makeup the new Harry Potter book. Author JK Rowling has asked fans to keep the play's secrets unspoiled for international fans, but she did confirm the story takes place after the seventh book. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will primarily focus on Albus Potter, Harry's son, and his famous father when a new threat is introduced to Britain's magical world.

If you're planning to attend one of Barnes & Nobles 'Midnight Magic' parties, you can expect to do plenty of wizard-themed activities. The company has said their event, "will feature trivia, costume contests, face-painting, wand-making and a special Muggle Wall where customers can share their favorite memories of Harry Potter."

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will hit shelves on July 31st - that is, if you can snag a copy before they sell out. You may need to invest in a time turner if you're worried you won't be able to get the book in time!
