Thursday's episode of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore will be the last.

The half-hour Comedy Central show replaced The Colbert Report on January 19, 2015 and is the first of a slew of new late-night shows to be discontinued.

On Monday afternoon, Wilmore informed his staff of the network's decision. To fill in Nightly's time slot, the network will replace the show with the pop culture quiz show with Chris Hardwick called @Midnight.

Kent Alterman, the president of Comedy Central stated that network made the decision to end the Nightly show because it failed to attract the station's core young adult demographic. Also, there was no traction by any of the social media metrics the company uses, according to Variety.

Alterman stated: "We hold Larry in the highest esteem, personally and professionally. He brought a strong voice and a point of view to the late-night landscape. Unfortunately it hasn't resonated with our audience."

Wilmore, however, didn't hide his disappointment that the show was cancelled.

"I'm really grateful to Comedy Central, Jon Stewart, and our fans to have had this opportunity," Wilmore said in a statement. "But I'm also saddened and surprised we won't be covering this crazy election or The Unblackening as we've coined it. And keeping it 100, I guess I hadn't counted on The Unblackening happening to my time slot as well."

Alterman maintains that this had nothing to do with Wilmore's firing. "We applaud Larry and his team for evolving the show," Alterman stated. "They created a community of contributors who were doing great comedy bits that were seamlessly woven into the show. As much as we thought Nightly was evolving creatively it just wasn't resonating with our audience."

Are you disappointed that The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore won't be on Comedy Central anymore?
