In what may be some very exciting (and weird) news, sources close to John Turturro have confirmed that the film Going Places is actually a Big Lebowski spin-off in which Turturro will be reprising his role as the very strange Jesus Quintana character.

Not only has the project been confirmed, but it has already begun filming with a script penned by Turturro himself. The cast includes the likes of Bobby Canavale, Audrey Tautou and Susan Sarandon.

The film is truly an indie project in the sense that there is no distributor attached to the project. The storyline is a derivative of the 1974 comedy Les Valseuses, a film in which two men (Turturro's Jesus and Canavale's Petey in this case) compete with one another to give a woman (Tautou) her first orgasm after she has already been included in the duo's shenanigans. Susan Sarandon will be portraying a criminal fresh off a long stint in prison that winds up in the company of Turturro, Canavale, and Tautou.

Joel and Ethan Coen, the writers and directors of the original Big Lebowski film, are not associated with Turturro's spin-off but will likely give the actor their blessing in the venture. Turturro has a long history with the Coen brothers including a collaboration on Miller's Crossing in 1990.

The mystery remains, what has Jesus Quintana been up to? While Turturro maintains that he has wanted to return to the role for quite some time, it will be interesting to see if his character still dons the outrageous purple outfits and if he has still been tearing it up at the bowling alley.

Are you excited to see John Turturro reprise his role as Jesus Quintana in The Big Lebowski spin-off?
