Rugrats Jack Riley

The man behind Stu Pickles on Nickelodeon long-running series Rugrats has died at the age of 80.

The actor was in Los Angeles when he succumbed to pneumonia and infection and is survived by his wife Ginger Lawrence (via Deadline).

Riley experienced a vast acting career, which started when he became a series regular on the sitcom Occasional Wife. His comedic talents led to memorable appearances on shows like Hogan's Heroes, I Dream of Jeannie, The Red Skelton Hour, and The Mary Tyler Moore show. He continued to land television roles throughout the 70's, and in 1972 he was cast as Elliot Carlin on the Bob Newhart Show, a popular returning character which he played for a total of 49 episodes.

After his extended stint as Newhart's complicated patient, he would continue to act in various projects until Nickelodeon's Rugrats animates series came along. He would go on to voice the character of Stu Pickles, who is father to Tommy and Dil. The series was immensely popular, and Riley continued to voice the character from 1991 to 2005, in addition to the various Rugrat films. He came back to reprise the role again when Nickelodeon launched All Grown Up! which ran from 2003 to 2007.

Jack Riley was born on December 30th, 1935, in Cleveland Ohio.
