Demi Lovato has decided to take a needed break from the music industry starting in 2017.

2016 has been a bit of a trying year for Lovato. She has been beaten left and right from media and comments on social about almost everything that she does. The hashtag #DemiIsOverParty was even trending on Twitter at one point this year.

But despite all of that, the pop star has continued on performing and releasing new music. She even reunited with an old friend, Nick Jonas, for a tour that made every Disney Channel fan happy.

Recently, however, Lovato sent out a series of tweets where she addressed some of what she said in a controversial interview with Glamour. In the interview, Lovato called out Taylor Swift for her song "Bad Blood." Lovato feels that Swift and her "squad" used that song to tear down Katy Perry – which would make sense given the history between Swift and Perry.

So, after her twitter conversation, Lovato decided to announce to her fans that enough is enough for right now. She is done with the media and the industry and plans to take a break in 2017.

"So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight," she tweeted. "I am not meant for this business and the media."

Stars "taking a break" from the spotlight isn't unheard of. Lovato will be joining her fellow Disney alum Selena Gomez on break in 2017. Hopefully this break will give Lovato the space she needs to gather herself before continuing to make music in the future.
