On Thursday night, a man was shot during a junior varsity football game at Dunbar High School in Fort Worth, Texas.

According to the investigators on the case, the shooting went down in the parking lot opposite the football field at around 7:26 p.m., and was believed to be a gang-related incident.

An 18-year-old was hit in the hip and sustained non-life threatening injuries after the shooter fired 12 to 15 shots in the school parking lot, Fox 4 News reports. The victim is now in good condition after being taken to the JPS Hospital by MedStar.

"They pulled in a white car and then they started shooting. And that's when they took off and everyone started running away this way," said Johnathon Pollard.

Extra officers were already posted at the football field after the Fort Worth police had been notified that there could likely be a fight that breaks out at the game because the two schools are bitter rivals.

The game was called off in the third quarter. The Dunbar High students were taken back into the school for a short period of time before being released. The opposing team, Eastern Hills High School, was escorted back to the buses and immediately left the Dunbar High School campus.

A spokeswoman for the Fort Worth Police Department, Tamar Vale stated: "If you've ever been on the scene and you've heard shots fired, it's a startling experience. So naturally, we wanted to get the kids safely out of this parking lot and out of the football stadium."

We wish the 18-year-old that was shot in the hip a speedy recovery.
