Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures have released the first trailer for Kong: Skull Island, the upcoming monster movie reviving cinema icon King Kong.
In the Kong: Skull Island, a diverse team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they’re crossing into the domain of the mythic Kong.
Kong: Skull Island is the second installment of Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla-Kong film series. The shared giant monster universe launched with 2014’s Godzilla. The series will continue in Godzilla 2 in 2019, and the two marquee monsters will clash in Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020.
The trailer drops after Legendary and Warner Bros. launched a viral marketing campaign centered on Project Monarch, which was introduced in Godzilla and links that film to Kong: Skull Island. The studios also released a still image of King Kong as he appears in Kong: Skull Island.
Kong: Skull Island is directed by John Vogt-Roberts from a screenplay by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Dan Gilroy and Derek Connolly and stars Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Oscar winner Brie Larson, John Goodman and John C. Reilly.
The ensemble cast of Kong: Skull Island also includes Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Thomas Mann, Shea Whigham, Toby Kebbell and Eugene Cordero.
Kong: Skull Island is produced by Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni with Mary Parent. The executive producers are Eric McLeod and Alex Garcia. Warner Bros.
