Director Gore Verbinski might be more well-known for his work on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but he's proven his skills across a range of genres. His 2002 horror film The Ring is one of the best horror films of the '00s and helped kick off a string of Asian horror movie remakes to varying success. With A Cure For Wellness, Verbinski returns to the world of horror, as you can see in the all-new clip below.
Read the film's official synopsis:
"An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company's CEO from an idyllic but mysterious 'wellness center' at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. He soon suspects that the spa's miraculous treatments are not what they seem. When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure."
The film stars The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Chronicle star Dane DeHaan, along with Jason Isaacs and Mia Goth.
The marketing materials have kept details about the film pretty mysterious, but the cinematography looks incredibly eerie, much like The Ring, which definitely has me excited about Verbinski's return to the genre.
Are you looking forward to Verbinski doing another thriller or do you think he should stick to big budget action adventure films? Let us know in the comments!
