Game of Thrones - The Night's King

Last Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones, "Oathkeeper," got fans buzzing when it took the story beyond what's been revealed in the novels so far by revealing what the White Walkers have been doing with Craster's sons and giving a glimpse at the Lands of Always Winter. Michelle MacLaren, who directed "Oathkeeper" as well as this week's episode, "First of His Name," said that fans can expect to see Game of Thrones go beyond the books more often. "Dan [Weiss] and David [Benioff] are such great writers. It's exciting to see where they are going to go moving beyond the books, which is starting to happen more and more," MacLaren told the Hollywood Reporter. It might be worth noting that showrunners Weiss and Benioff are also credited with writing "First of His Name." MacLaren also hinted that there may be more to those figures around the ice altar than simply being well-dressed White Walkers. "We saw very little of the White Walkers other than the one on the horse. There's a lineup of blurry figures and we pull back over the baby," she said. "Presumably those are White Walkers, but we left that somewhat of a mystery on purpose." Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9 PM ET on HBO.
